The Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda calls for more women in positions of power, under the assumption that women – inherently peaceful – will through participation in peacebuilding and leadership ensure just and lasting peace. The silence on Gaza and material support for Israel's genocide from leaders like the European commission's Ursula von der Leyen and Kaja Kallas, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, raises doubts about this strategy.
