A small echo of Montesquieu in Hume (opens in new tab)

It is well known to scholars that there was some correspondence between Hume and Montesquieu around 1749 mostly pertaining to The Spirit of the Laws. Last month (recall here) I noted there is some evidence of Hume’s interest in Montesquieu earlier.
