NASA Names Artemis III Crew for Earth-Orbit Mission That Was Supposed to Go to the Moon (opens in new tab)

NASA named the four-person Artemis III crew at Johnson Space Center on June 9, 2026. The mission, originally designed to return humans to the Moon's surface, was redesignated as a low Earth orbit docking test after SpaceX and Blue Origin's commercial landers were deemed unready for a lunar descent.
