India's Meteorological Department issued an orange-level rain, thunderstorm and dust-storm alert on Saturday for Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh for Sunday, June 14. Forecast winds gust to 90 kilometres per hour. The southwest monsoon reached Kerala on June 4 and is, on the IMD's published probability surface, now running about ten days ahead of its average advance into the Indo-Gangetic plain.
