Cache Bulk Cleaning (opens in new tab)

I used to clean the cache buy holding down the volume down and side buttons simultaneously and turn off phone\. Then hold vol up and side buttons simultaneously until phone showed Galaxy logo\. Then menu contained \"clear cache\.\" Now menu doesn't show Clear Cache\. Online research says need to connect phone to PC in order to clear cache\. Is this the result of an update or am I not doing something correctly? TIA
