M4 iPad screen goes gray when Control Panel is pulled down (opens in new tab)

Whenever I pull down the control panel from the upper right corner of my screen, the screen blanks out and turns gray. As soon as I roll the control panel back up, the screen reverts to normal. What’s going on? Is this a bug in iPadOS 26? Or is there a defect in my iPad? I have done a cursory...
