I moved to Los Angeles a few years ago and spent a lot of time being baffled by it. The weather is perfect, the terrain is flat, and the city is dense enough that most of what you’d want is nearby. It should be one of the most walkable and bikeable cities in the country. Instead, it’s built almost entirely around the car, and people look at you like you’re insane if you walk or bike anywhere.
