Adiponectin exerts sex-dependent effects on lipid, amino acid, and glucose metabolism during caloric restriction (opens in new tab)
Adiponectin is the most abundant mammalian hormone, decreasing in obesity and increasing in leanness, including during caloric restriction, but its role in this process is mostly unknown. This study shows that absence of adiponectin lowers glucose, and affects lipid use and amino acid metabolism during caloric restriction in a sex-specific manner.
