Distinct sources of decision-related signals in visual cortex are represented in different local field potential bands (opens in new tab)
Neuronal activity in sensory cortex correlates with perceptual decisions, but whether these correlations reflect causal influences or other factors is unclear. This study shows that LFP frequency bands dissociate causal and non-causal signals, with high-gamma activity reflecting causal contributions and lower frequencies indexing contextual influences.
