A Federal Reserve Bank of New York survey released Wednesday found that food insecurity in the United States has risen above levels recorded at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, including summer 2020, when unemployment reached double digits. The February survey asked households whether they had skipped meals, used food donations or received federal grocery assistance; 10% of families said they had missed meals because they lacked food.
