Paris court convicts Airbus, Air France over AF447 deaths (opens in new tab)

The Paris Court of Appeal convicted Airbus and Air France of involuntary manslaughter over the 2009 crash of Air France Flight AF447 from Rio de Janeiro to Paris, which killed all 228 passengers and crew aboard the Airbus A330. The court overturned a 2023 lower-court acquittal, found the companies “solely and entirely responsible” for the crash, and ordered each to pay €225,000, the maximum corporate manslaughter fine in the case.
