Ebola outbreak reaches 689 cases in DR Congo (opens in new tab)
Congolese health authorities said Friday the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo had reached 689 confirmed cases, including 139 deaths. The outbreak is caused by the Bundibugyo species of Ebola virus and has affected Ituri, North Kivu and South Kivu in eastern DR Congo, while Uganda has reported 19 confirmed cases and two deaths, with no new Ugandan cases reported since June 5.
