US to designate two Brazilian gangs as terrorist organizations (opens in new tab)

The U.S. State Department said it would designate Brazil’s two largest criminal groups, Primeiro Comando da Capital, or PCC, and Comando Vermelho, or CV, as foreign terrorist organizations on June 5, after first classifying them as specially designated global terrorists.
