California’s June 2 primary remained unresolved early Wednesday as officials continued counting votes in the race to replace term-limited Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom, with Republican Steve Hilton and Democrat Xavier Becerra leading and Democrat Tom Steyer in third in partial returns. With 54.9% of the expected vote counted, NBC Bay Area reported Hilton at 27.6%, Becerra at 25.5%, Steyer at 19.6% and Republican Chad Bianco at 11.3%; the Associated Press had not called the race.
