Ottawa proposes under-16 social media ban, chatbot rules (opens in new tab)

The federal government introduced Bill C-34, the Safe Social Media Act, in Parliament on Wednesday. The bill would prevent children under 16 from having social media accounts unless platforms can prove they have sufficient safeguards for young users.
