A heatwave that affected western Europe earlier in the week moved into central and eastern Europe on Saturday, breaking or threatening temperature records from Scandinavia to the Alps. Germany set a preliminary all-time high of 41.5 C at Möckern-Drewitz in Saxony-Anhalt, Denmark recorded 37 C at Ødum north of Aarhus, and the Czech Republic reported a national record above 40 C at Doksany north of Prague.
