Canada imposed a provisional 10% surtax on canned vegetable imports on June 19, with the measure set to remain in place for up to 200 days. The Department of Finance said the tariff addresses critical circumstances in Canada’s canned vegetable industry, trade diversion and market pressure on domestic growers and processors.
