U.S. proposes forced-labor tariffs on 60 economies (opens in new tab)

President Trump’s administration proposed additional tariffs of 10% or 12.5% on imports from 60 economies after the U.S. Trade Representative said an investigation found trading partners had failed to curb trade in goods made with forced labor. Under the proposal, imports from Canada, Mexico, the European Union, Taiwan and the United Kingdom would face 10% duties, while China, Japan, India, South Korea, Switzerland and other economies would face 12.5% duties.
