The European Commission last week published a technology sovereignty package that includes the Cloud and AI Development Act, part of a push to reduce Europe’s dependence on U.S. and Chinese suppliers of cloud services, chips, AI infrastructure and open-source software. The measures follow concern among European organizations and regulators about reliance on U.S. tech firms and U.S. laws such as the CLOUD Act, which Computerworld said could give U.S. officials access to data stored in Europe. ...
