AI data center permits point to rising power use (opens in new tab)

A Business Insider analysis of U.S. data center permits found that facilities permitted through 2025 would use an estimated 224.3 terawatt-hours to 358.8 terawatt-hours of electricity a year if all come online, up 50% from the previous year’s range.
