Researchers create synthetic cells to isolate genetic circuits (opens in new tab)

MIT researchers have demonstrated that synthetic biology circuits can be isolated within individual synthetic cells, preventing unwanted interference from the environment or each other. This could make it easier to design genetic circuits that act as sensors or produce complex drugs or other useful molecules.
