WhatsApp adds incognito chats for Meta AI, but are they truly private? (opens in new tab)

WhatsApp has launched “Discussions incognito with Meta AI,” a mode that uses end-to-end encryption, stores no messages on Meta’s servers, and auto-deletes chats when a session ends. It’s positioned as stricter than OpenAI’s ChatGPT ephemeral chats, which keep data for 30 days, and Google’s Gemini, which retains temporary chats for up to 72 hours.
