SharePoint: Direct Metadata Editing from Library View (opens in new tab)

Is it possible in SharePoint to allow users to update metadata directly from the document library view without requiring them to click on “Edit properties” or switch to “Edit in grid view,” essentially minimizing or eliminating additional clicks for making changes?
