After updating to Windows 11, I can't type text into the Start menu search box (opens in new tab)

When I click the search box on the Start menu, the cursor blinks normally but the keyboard does not respond, and I cannot type any text. Restarting File Explorer or logging out and back in provides a temporary fix, but the problem reoccurs after a while.
