As noted by Prof. Niklaus Wirth in his 1995 essay A Plea for Lean Software, and by Bert Hubert in A 2024 Plea for Lean Software, the software we use today is incredibly bloated and large in size. Etcher is a classic example, a popular tool that writes ISOs to USB drives. It is 120 MB in size (420 MB when installed) and bundles an entire copy of the Chromium web browser (via Electron).
