It is the first full week of summer for Seattle Public Schools (SPS) students, and Superintendent Ben Shuldiner has several areas to tackle over the break, like balancing a budget that is $87 million in the hole and increasing enrollment. He also wants to work on school safety. Shuldiner started his tenure at SPS in February, just after two district students were shot and killed at a bus stop.
