England did not escape the Malthusian Trap first (opens in new tab)

When I began reading Angus Bylsma’s Substack, I sort of assumed he was a professor of history at an elite university because his reviews were sophisticated enough to be published in the London Review of Books. Turns out, he literally just graduated from college. I am very excited about this kid. He is going to do some real damage. He’s doing a masters in London now. But we gotta steal him right after. Harvard and Yale and Columbia are going to have to make competitive bids.
