Pancreatic islet oscillation rhythmicity arises from δ and α cell interactions (opens in new tab)
This study reveals that δ and α cell interactions orchestrate the rhythmic Ca²⁺ patterns in pancreatic islets. δ cells slow the rhythm by inhibiting α cells, and continuous adjustment produces fast, slow, or mixed patterns. This paracrine mechanism links islet architecture to dynamic function and blood glucose sensing in vivo.
