Metarhizium anisopliae is an entomopathogenic fungus that is widely used in the biological control of agricultural pests. During host infection, M. anisopliae secretes an arsenal of hydrolytic enzymes such as proteases and chitinases that allow for cuticle penetration and host colonization.
