Statue depicting Athena found in Turkey (opens in new tab)

During ongoing excavation work at the West Theatre of Laodicea in modern-day Denizli, western Turkey, archaeologists uncovered a marble statue of Athena. The figure stands just over two metres tall, though its head is gone, snapped cleanly at the neck at some point in the past.
