From motion pictures to micro videos: children’s media over time (opens in new tab)
I believe there is a wide-scale negative change occurring in children’s media, and a few stand-out films that perform well in theaters don’t represent the full entity of children’s long-form media enough to negate this change. Children’s movies and TV have gotten less serious and are of a lower quality now, with lessons and morals becoming more on-the-nose and the overall creative focus becoming maximization of attention-holding rather than artistic innovation.
