Military stands ready for disaster season but Ottawa warns it's not a long-term fix (opens in new tab)

Over the past decade, there has been an increasing demand on the Canadian Armed Forces to respond to natural disasters. But in meetings with Public Safety Canada, the Department of National Defence is raising concerns about the reliance on the forces, according to a briefing note Canada’s National Observer obtained through a federal access-to-information request.
