Emerging evidence for a cooperative pathway of Hedgehog release (opens in new tab)

All Hedgehog (Hh) morphogens undergo dual lipidation during biosynthesis. This process renders them insoluble; however, with the help of several accessory release factors, both lipids also regulate subsequent Hh solubilization and transport.
