Cells achieve metabolic precision by assembling enzymes into dynamic complexes, but the regulatory mechanism of these metabolons is unclear. Here we characterize the chalcone synthase (CHS)–chalcone isomerase-like protein (CHIL) complex, a key component of flavonoid metabolons.
