Bridgehead olefins are challenging to isolate. Now, an inorganic bicyclic framework featuring a bridgehead unsaturated bond has been synthesized. The strained bridgehead B=B bond formed between tricoordinate and pentacoordinate boron atoms exhibits an unusual electronic structure and reactivity.
