The headline at Brilliant Maps is a real eye-opener: None of the countries that bordered Romania before World War II border it today. None? The map above shows the borders of the region before the war. Well, okay, the USSR and Yugoslavia no longer exist after the reshuffling of communist Europe in the 1980s and '90s.
