IRCC Lets Provincial Nominees Get Work Permits Sooner, Cutting Acknowledgement-of-Receipt Delays (opens in new tab)

From 9 June 2026 until year-end, provincial nominees inside Canada—and their spouses—can apply for open work permits without waiting for the usual Acknowledgement of Receipt. The move shields employers and applicants from lengthy processing backlogs and eliminates many emergency LMIA filings.
