Sanday Wreck (opens in new tab)

Rising from the intertidal deposits on Sand o’Erraby, a beach in Sanday, Orkney Islands, winter storms exposed a single large section of a wooden ship hull. The wreck has now been transferred into a freshwater conservation tank with the help of our marine specialists, and funding from Historic Environment Scotland has been awarded to support dendrochronological analysis and further research into the ship's origins.
