One of America’s Weirdest Natural Phenomena Is in Alabama (opens in new tab)

Last month, the Atlas Obscura team visited Dismals Canyon to experience the magical glow of thousands of bioluminescent larvae\. These glowworms require a very specific habitat to survive and are unique to only a few places on Earth: Australia, New Zealand, and here, in northwest Alabama\.
