Sharing a song and lyrics from Spotify to WhatsApp Status
This feature made quite a splash when it was originally released, leaving Apple Music users wondering when they would get to do the same, rather than being limited to the standard sharing extension that publishes a much duller-looking Status update.
Now, Apple is working on this improved integration, which could launch with iOS 26.2.
On the first developer beta, when the user taps “Share Lyrics”, then taps the new “WhatsApp Status” menu option, they can select a few lines from the lyrics before sharing a much better-looking Status update.
Sharing lyrics from Apple Music to WhatsApp Status
Interestingly, WhatsApp Status doesn’t consistently show up as an option when attempting to share the actual song, rather than just the lyrics, which suggests that Apple may have forgotten to disable the new sharing option from the “Share Lyrics” menu while it works on the feature.
Apple Music requires an active subscription. You can sign up for $10.99 per month, with 1 month free.
