>> a very promising sign for snap recipients. president trump today, responding to a judge’s order to use emergency funding for the benefits. and there are new local efforts to help keep food on the tables of the half a million people right here in the bay area who are on food assistance. thank you so much for joining us. i’m frances wang. treasury secretary scott bessent today said federal food assistance could be restored by wednesday. >> president trump just freaked out that he’s very anxious to get this done. and it’s got to go through the courts. the courts keep jamming up things. democrats are in the middle of a civil war, and they should just open the government. that is the easiest way to do this. >> two federal judges on friday ruled that the government must pay for snap federal food assistance using emergency reserves. the president now says he’s waiting for legal direction by the court before releasing that funding. the next vote on the government shutdown could come tomorrow when the senate reconvenes. abc news senior white house correspondent selena wang with a look at where things stand

right now. >> the usda says nearly 42 million americans get snap food assistance each month, and could possibly lose that government funded assistance. president trump said he’s instructed government attorneys to find a legal path to restore snap funding, but he acknowledges benefits will be delayed. senator tim kaine on this week. >> let’s find a path to a fix. and let’s also have president trump finally engage in the negotiation and guarantee that a deal is a deal. >> democrats remain firm for an extension of affordable health care tax credits to keep health care costs for roughly 20 million americans from rising. open enrollment began this weekend. virginia resident beth dryer, who relies on that subsidy, says her monthly premium jumped from $80 to $425. >> this is more than quadrupled in cost for me, so it’s just straight out. there’s no way i would be able to afford this next year. >> meantime, thousands of air traffic controllers have been working without pay for weeks.

been intentionally set and arrested a suspect yesterday evening. they haven’t released any information yet on the cause of the fire or a possible motive. in the east bay, the 30th annual oakland dia de los muertos festival took on a special significance this year. thousands of people turned out for this event in the fruitvale neighborhood. there was music, traditional altars, arts and crafts, food and lowriders on display. this year’s theme translated to quote we’re here and we’re not leaving. festival organizers said the theme reflects resilience, unity and cultural pride. >> with everything going on right now, i feel great to be out here. feel safe to be out here is to be proud of my heritage and my culture and respect the living and the dead. >> this oakland festival was inducted into the u.s. library of congress local legacies project by mayor barbara lee. and the day of the dead processions are happening tonight in san francisco’s mission district. aztec leaders are going to be leading people through the neighborhood. this

event will have musicians, artists, vendors selling their handmade crafts. the first procession starts tonight at seven, the second at eight. both begin at 22nd and bryant streets and will move down 24th to mission street in the south bay. a crackdown on new smoke shops and tobacco businesses is expected to advance this week. the san jose city council is set to consider a measure on tuesday that would halt for up to two years any new licenses for local tobacco businesses. that includes retailers, smoke shops and smoke lounges. supporters of this moratorium say in addition, health risks from tobacco. some local shops have become avenues for the sale of illegal drugs. well, you may get rerouted a bit the next time you’re at san francisco international airport starting this tuesday. sections of terminal three at sfo will close for renovations until 2027. here’s what’s closing the terminal three airtrain station. the departure level curve from doors six through 13, and the

disney+ and hulu. and you may have watched abc seven. s spencer christian during his days on good morning america. tomorrow, he returns to gma as abc celebrates the program’s 50th anniversary. you can watch tomorrow morning right here on abc seven from 7 to 9:00. well, i know francis and i are both so excited because we love working with spencer. he’s probably on his way to new york right now and hopefully getting rest with that time change. >> yeah, definitely. we could all use extra rest. i’ve worked with spencer over 20 years. he is lovely and gracious, and i love working with him and even having him as a friend. here’s a look at live doppler seven. it is clear right now and you notice we had such a gorgeous day with lots of sunshine. temperatures really warmed up. right now we’re in the 60s and 70s. things are really going to change tomorrow. it’s going to start off chillier with temperatures dropping into the upper 40s. we could see some dense, patchy fog develop, especially in the north bay. santa rosa only 47 and low 50s

around the rest of the bay area. and then tomorrow afternoon, temperatures are going to drop by as much as ten degrees compared to what we experienced today. in fact, you’ll notice in santa rosa 69 for tomorrow. today they hit 81. also one of the warmest spots was livermore 81 today and tomorrow 73 and san rafael was 81. tomorrow will be 70. san francisco closer to average at 64. still comfortable, though, in san jose at 73 degrees. so we have some changes on the way. we’ll notice increasing clouds on tuesday as a storm moves through, so tuesday night we could get a chance of rain. wednesday morning looks to be the toughest and the messiest for the commute right now. we could see some more moderate rainfall in parts of the north bay, and then it sweeps through the rest of the bay area, also getting some light rain during the evening commute. rainfall amounts have changed since yesterday, and that’s why i downgraded the level two storm to a level one. but it could

change again. we’re expecting over half an inch of rain in the north bay, maybe even more than an inch in ukiah, and less than half an inch elsewhere, maybe even only a quarter of an inch in some spots. so we’ll keep you posted on this, but what’s actually going to be more of a concern are the winds. they will start to really pick up tuesday night, and they will be blustery on wednesday morning, 7:00 notice many areas, especially in the north bay and along the coast, could be near 40 miles an hour or above, so the winds will be a concern. tuesday night into wednesday. there could be a wind advisory. here’s the accuweather seven day forecast. so goodbye summer weather and get the sweater weather ready because it will be sharply cooler monday tuesday with those clouds wet, windy and chilly on wednesday and then partly cloudy towards the end of the week, and then maybe even another slight chance of rain on sunday. >> the san francisco 49 ers have been plagued by injury.
