I had four winterization stops on my schedule. When I arrived at the first, it was already done. This was frustrating because the customer had used our online booking system. So, they had the service done by someone else and then booked us because they forgot? Big waste of time.
At my next stop I realized we have another customer literally three doors down. I texted them and was able to do their winterization at the same time. Nice to be able to bill for another stop since my morning was a bust.

I had four winterization stops on my schedule. When I arrived at the first, it was already done. This was frustrating because the customer had used our online booking system. So, they had the service done by someone else and then booked us because they forgot? Big waste of time.
At my next stop I realized we have another customer literally three doors down. I texted them and was able to do their winterization at the same time. Nice to be able to bill for another stop since my morning was a bust.
Throughout the day I had random hour-ish breaks which gave me time to test out some of the things I’ve been building into my new EDC laptop. At my first break I connected to a public wifi, turned on the VPN, and cleaned up a few things on the homelab. I removed UpSnap and deleted some old Docker images. At the next break I played some FTL.
I ran into an issue with Heroic Game Launcher when playing FTL. The game plays fine, but Heroic shat itself being offline. It would constantly complain that it couldn’t connect to the internet to get game info, just the game info it shows on the game pane in the app, which it should have cached. It was super fucking annoying because all the GOG games play perfectly fine offline.
Got home late and right before WWE Raw was going to start. We can’t afford streaming services, so I have to manually setup [cough] alternative ways to watch. At the same time the youngest was convincing me to give them a 2k account so they can view community creations in WWE 2k25. I swear gaming, WWE, and NFL take up a disporportionate amount of my time compared to how much I care about them.
After the gorls went to bed the wife and I made our holiday movie list. I will publish this as separate post. We then started watching Funny Farm and went to bed kind of late.
Gratitude
- We are still billing 5-8 winterization stops a day. Optimism is grouwing around our winter finances.
How are you feeling today?
Okay. Having an extra day off this week feels nice. My chest in the area of my heart feels like its being pressed on and my left arm feels weird. But I’ll deal with that when I have the time and money. I’m sure it is fine.

Chores
- Leaf cleanup. We are supposed to get rain the rest of the week, so if the gorls want to play in the leaf pile I gotta get this done today.
- Balance the books for my mom’s rental property. She owns it, but I’m her property manager and maintenance contractor.
- Update biz books.
Fun
- Research and start a new book. Now that I’m spending less time driving or working, I need to find a physical book instead of an audiobook. When I’m home I don’t have the space to listen to a book, there’s always too much crap going on around here and too many interruptions.
Projects
- Finally make that cyberdeck cheatsheet/documentation. I think I’m going to print some mini versions onto business cards, too. I have a pack of print-at-home business card paper. It would be nice to have a small cheatsheet to had to neighbors, friends, etc. if I ever have to use the kit.
