I used the Shapiro Design Lab’s 3D software and printers to create the hand pieces for my Tomura Shigaraki costume for Halloween this year. I modified an open-source CAD file for the bases (the gold parts), the connectors (which attach the bases to the hands), and the hands themselves.

The only tricky part was playing around with the software settings to reduce weight. I did the first hand with a grid infill, which made it way too heavy. Design Lab staff suggested I use lightning infill for the rest of the prints, which made them a lot lighter and reduced print time.

The hands needed additional supports, as their shape was irregular. I added those, but they did leave some weird layer lines in places (nothing that couldn’t be covered up easily).
