Books build entire worlds between their covers containing lifetimes of learning and endless exploration for those who pick them up. But not all readers are created equal. For those that like to treat their tomes with care, Bookmarker by studioYO for Bito offers a neat little seat for your latest read and accompanying beverage. Best of all, it comes completely free of hardware. Simple in assembly, individual slotted pieces come together to create a dynamic yet sturdy stand for all your literary accoutrements.
Great care is taken with Bookmarker’s design. Highly considered, every edge showcases distinct articulation and minimalist aesthetic. Dynamic vertices interact splendidly – soft where they need to be while sharp along intersecting planes – creating the illusion of bisection when fully assembled.
The table sits at a jaunty tilt, held firmly in place by an offset ligament, neatly slotting into the body. A simple yet effective circular cutout, what eventually becomes the top, allows the table to come together as a solid wooden object, preserving structural integrity and providing continuity in the process. This also allows for flat packing, which eliminates countless amounts of packaging from waste streams.
Finally, the circular top intersects neatly with the body, cutting a parallel plane to the floor, finished with a rounded edge that feels right at home in the hand.
The Bookmarker leans into its moniker thanks to its signature ledge. This table comes with built-in storage, a lower ledge created by a clever offset from the floor piece, allowing enthusiasts to display their favorite covers with pride – or just keep the current rotation at hand. Whether in a book nook, patio, or bedroom, this satisfyingly simple table motivates us to pick up our current read, and place it down in style.
