An Update on SP-API Fees
Thank you for your continued partnership in building innovative tools that help our selling partners grow and manage their businesses in Amazon’s store. Selling Partner API (SP-API) and its predecessor, Marketplace Web Services (MWS), have served as the backbone of Amazon’s collaboration with developers since 2009. Your applications and services, built with our APIs, now serve millions of our selling partners, and have helped create thriving businesses for you and others within our developer community.
To support continued investment in improved developer experiences, API capabilities, and partner enablement programs that accelerate the growth of your businesses serving our selling partners, Amazon is implementing a fee structure for SP-API. This new fee structure aligns fees with service costs and offers flexible tiers to accommodate developers of all sizes. As a part of this change, third-party developers will no longer need a Professional selling plan in Seller Central nor need to pay the associated monthly subscription fee.
Core resources such as documentation, sample code, and sandbox testing environments will remain available to all developers at no cost, regardless of subscription status.
These changes affect global third-party developers offering applications to other selling partners. Sellers and vendors using SP-API directly for only their business will not incur additional SP-API fees.
What’s Changing
Starting January 31, 2026, all third-party developers integrated with SP-API will be charged an annual subscription fee of $1400 USD. This subscription includes access to the Solution Provider Portal, support services, and production usage of SP-API. New third-party developers will be charged after their first production SP-API service call, while existing third-party developers will see charges begin on this date.
Starting April 30, 2026, we will implement a monthly API usage fee based on your GET API call volume. To help you make an informed decision, you have access to a fee preview on the Solution Provider Portal, where you can choose from 4 tiers: Basic, Pro, Plus, and Enterprise, allowing you to scale usage based on your needs. The Basic tier has no additional charge. To support developers in managing your usage efficiently to lower your fees, we’ve published a Call Optimization Guidance Page with best practices and tools to help you make more efficient API calls, and we are providing you with six months advance notice so you have time to make desired optimizations to your API calls.
Please submit your charge method, billing address, and tax information for verification in the Solution Provider Portal by January 31, 2026. This step is required to activate your subscription and ensure uninterrupted access to SP-API. Third-party developers who do not complete this step by February 16, 2026, will lose access to SP-API until they have provided payment and tax information and it has been verified.
Monthly API Usage Tier Structure
To support developers across all stages, from startups to enterprise-level applications, we are introducing a tiered usage model. All third-party developers default into the Basic Tier, which includes 2.5 million GET calls per month at no additional charge beyond the annual subscription. If no changes are made, your account will remain in the Basic tier. You’ll be able to choose other tiers if they better fit your needs directly through the Solution Provider Portal.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Where can I go to submit my payment information?
You can submit your charge method, billing address, and tax information in Solution Provider Portal. This step is required to activate your subscription and ensure uninterrupted access to SP-API.
2. How will billing work for the annual subscription fee?
Beginning January 31, 2026, developers will be charged a $1400 USD annual subscription fee after their first production API call. This subscription covers 12 months from the billing date and renews on annual basis. Each renewal happens exactly 12 months from your last billing date. For example, if your subscription begins on January 31, 2026, your next annual renewal will occur on January 31, 2027. Developers must maintain a valid charge method on file for billing. If a valid debit or credit card is not provided by January 31, 2026, your application will be removed from the Selling Partner Appstore and new authorizations will be blocked starting February 9, 2026. By February 16, 2026, applications without valid charge information will lose access to SP-API and selling partners that have authorized your application will be contacted to notify them that your application is no longer available.
3. Where can I find directions on how to manage my billing information and tax registration in the Solution Provider Portal?
4. Is the annual subscription fee of $1400 USD prorated if I join partway through the year?
No, the annual subscription fee is not prorated. Beginning January 31, 2026, new third-party developers integrated with SP-API developers will be charged the full amount after their first production API call. The annual subscription will remain active for 12 months from your last charge date and will automatically renew on an annual basis.
5. What is my monthly charge if I exceed my tier’s included API calls?
If your total monthly GET API calls exceed your tier’s included allowance, you’ll be charged an overage fee of $0.40 USD per 1,000 calls. The total charge for the month will include your tier’s monthly fee plus any applicable overage. For example, you’re subscribed to the Pro Tier which includes 25 million GET calls per month, and you make 28 million GET calls in a given month. Your overage is 3 million calls (28M - 25M = 3M). You’ll be charged $0.40 x 3,000 = $1200 USD in overages. Your total charge that month will be your Pro Tier monthly fee + $1200 USD in overages.
6. How can I optimize my API calls?
We’ve published call optimization guidance to help developers use SP-API efficiently and reduce the risk of unnecessary utilization fees. This resource provides best practices for structuring requests, avoiding redundant calls and efficient data handling strategies. Refer to the Call Optimization Guidance Page for detailed recommendations and examples.
7. Where can I see my monthly GET API usage?
You can track your monthly GET API call volume through the Usage Dashboard in the Solution Provider Portal. This dashboard provides real-time visibility into your usage against your current tier limits and shows your peak monthly GET calls over the past 12 months. The usage dashboard will help you monitor trends, anticipate overages, and choose the tier that best aligns with your business needs.
8. What if I want to maintain access to Seller Central?
Maintaining or signing up for a Selling on Amazon account remains optional for third-party developers. If you choose to have a Selling on Amazon account to access Seller Central, standard Selling on Amazon fees will apply. However, this is no longer required to access SP-API or maintain your developer access. All developer activities can now be managed directly through the Solution Provider Portal.
9. If I think I qualify for the Enterprise tier, how can I contact Amazon?
If your application exceeds the usage levels of the Pro tier, you may be eligible for the Enterprise tier. To contact our team, use the Contact Us link in the Solution Provider Portal or reach out directly to your Amazon account manager if you have one. Our team will work with you to evaluate your usage and determine the best path forward.
10. What if I have questions that aren’t covered here?
If you have additional questions or need support, you can reach out through the Contact Us link in the Solution Provider Portal. Our team will review your inquiry and follow up to provide assistance.
