Given the premise of this blog, I think I’m going to start posting, as often as it feels relevant, about what’s going on in my life; even when it doesn’t fit a specific theme, just like I’ve been doing. I’ve been working behind the scenes on the possibility of creating a brand. I’ve already sketched out what I want to offer, just the basics, which, needless to say, I want to be solid. What I can reveal is that it will be educational, though not preachy, and entertaining, about as entertaining as reading can be.

The first step in this venture will be writing on Substack while keeping up this blog. I should say, I have no plans to abandon it anytime soon. However, I’m stuck on a rather important matter: I’m not sure which language I should write in.
Writing in English is tempting because I think it’s more accessible to everyone. More people have studied English in school than Spanish. But at the same time, it doesn’t feel coherent, considering I plan to write a book traditionally. Translating a blog is one thing; translating a full book for a mostly English-speaking audience is another. So, for now, this blog will probably stay in English, while the rest of my platforms will be in Spanish. Although, please don’t forget that Google can automatically translate blogs into your native language, keep that in mind.
On another note, and this is even further down the line, I want to create a small line of hair accessories aimed at kids but also at people interested in styles like Lolita, Decora, etc. I’d love to sell my pieces in a local store; even if I made less money, it’s something I wish to do. But I’m not sure how I should approach them. Should I just send an email? If anyone out there knows about this or has resources to help me start this kind of in-person selling, please email me. Creating accessories is something very dear to me, and I think I’ll write more about it later. (email: lamentodeorfeo@gmail.com)
Now, lastly, the matter of university. Look, I’ll be honest here, it hasn’t been easy fighting against the certainties that formed during my first year. I mean, I’m battling doubt and fear, which make me create my own difficulties and excuses. I’m the kind of person whose mood crashes in winter. I don’t handle the cold well, especially without heating. Yes, money is tight, tighter than last year, I’d dare say. All of this is just my own baggage, but I do have hope, I really do, that this course will be better when it comes to grades. I don’t have any proof yet, but my gut is telling me so.
All of this might not sound very positive, but I do have good news. If you’ve read the About Me section, you know I’ve been studying to work as a thanatopractitioner at a funeral home. Luckily, I’ve already submitted my final project, and it was marked as pass. That means I just have to wait to be assigned an internship at a company. I can feel my financial independence getting closer and closer. I don’t need much to survive, and taking that weight off my family’s shoulders will make me feel calmer because it will be the last bit of control I give them over me. It’s a big responsibility, but honestly, I think it will be good for me.
What else? I have a website, I mentioned this a while ago. I haven’t shared the link yet, but I will soon. Why mention it then? Because I want to add a section to show sketches, drawings, and other works. This afternoon, if I find the time, I’ll do an ink drawing. So, on the creative side, I’m also working on my more hands-on projects.
Do you remember the little kitten from a couple of blogs ago? It’s mine, but at the same time, it’s not; it’s free, for now. I feed it and let it spend a few minutes inside while I do things so it can get used to me. I borrowed some toys from my mom’s cats to play with her, but she doesn’t seem interested, or maybe she just doesn’t know how to play yet. I’ll give you more updates in the future.
Thanks for reading!
