I recently came across a few blog posts via my RSS reader from people explaining their Inventory. At first I didn’t quite understand the context of the term but after reading a few blog posts I got it.
I’ve never been a video-game player so the concept was a bit alien. An Inventory is everything you are carrying on your character as you play the game.
A clever Absurd Pirate turned it into this month’s Bear Blog Carnival to discover what you carry in real life.
So here we go:

I’ve never been a video-game player so the concept was a bit alien. An Inventory is everything you are carrying on your character as you play the game.
A clever Absurd Pirate turned it into this month’s Bear Blog Carnival to discover what you carry in real life.
So here we go:
My Own Inventory
When I leave the house, I have two choices depending on my task. I take one of the following:
- car and house keys; wallet; mobile phone
- the above, plus my man bag
The man bag for every eventuality

The Bag – I am packing for every eventuality! It’s a great little over-the-shoulder fabric bag with many compartments.
Power – Top middle of the image is my battery backup and a multi-connector cable. You never know when you, or a friend, needs their mobile device charged. Good for three full charges, and it’s also a torch.
Notebooks – A black book, and muji pen with black ink. The Japanese know how to make nice everyday pens. This notebook is for jottings, where-as the light-blue one to the side is smaller, thin, and carries to-dos as they pop into my head. Also a spare muji pen.
A bag – Yes, a bag within my bag. A little canvas shopping bag to carry any purchases I make when out and about. The bag has the words “If you are wondering what is in the bag, it is probably Gin”.
Safety first – to the left, in the small zip-lock clear plastic bag, is a selection of drugs. I have Paracetamol and Ibuprofen for pain/headaches, plus anti-histamines for general allergies. Not forgetting a few anti-bacterial wound wipes for any cuts. These are generally not for me, and I don’t have an allergies, but inevitably someone needs something when I am out with friends.
Hand Sanitiser – I was a pre-covid hand sanitiser. I always have one with me.
Balm – A small round tub of lip balm to keep the lips nice and moist. This is my favourite one. I bought it in a little boutique shop in Spain. Two-minutes after leaving the shop, and putting some on, I had to return and buy two spares for the future.
Hand Wipes – Bottom left is a pack of anti-bacterial handwipes. Less scented than the bottle of sanitiser, so handy when in a restaurant and I need cleansed.
Tissues – Some balm infused tissues to keep my nose clean.
Wallet – This is another great little compartmentalised container. I hae two zip sections for coins (which I personally hate carrying). Middle sections where I carry Pounds (for UK), and Euros (for Europe). A few cards (bank, credit, store etc). Also my calling card – with my name, number, and a QR Code for people to scan and be added to their address book.
Chocolate – Bottom right, an emergency chocolate bar. I try to keep one in case I get hungry, (or greedy!).
Keys and phone will also be in the bag, and often a bottle of water.
Your turn
That’s my Inventory Insight – it’s your turn to show us your pack.
