Police said they’re looking for a driver who allegedly struck and killed a Bronx man in the borough over the weekend and fled the scene.
Officers responded to a 911 call about a crash at Boston Road and East 222nd Street in Williamsbridge around 12:15 a.m. Saturday, according to NYPD officials. They learned the driver of a 2025 BMW M8 was going east when the driver struck the man, who was crossing East 222nd Street from north to south, officials said.
Police said the driver then slammed into a nearby telephone pole. One of the car’s passengers, a 28-year-old man, sustained minor injuries. The driver escaped and the NYPD has not yet announced any arrests in the case.

Officials identified the pedestrian as neighborhood resident Shariq Bryant, 27, and said he was pronounced dead at Jacobi Hospital. He lived about a 10-minute walk from the crash site, police said.
An online fundraiser for Bryant’s funeral costs described him as a “warm, caring and deeply loving soul” who “had a way of making people feel seen, valued and supported.”
The city recorded 190 traffic deaths through Nov. 30 this year, down 19% from the same period last year, NYPD data shows. Just over 100 of those deaths involved pedestrians. In the 47th Precinct, which includes Williamsbridge, there were four traffic deaths this year through November, down one from the same point in 2024.
