Could Marginal Seat specifying their issues lead to a more accurate and precise diagnosis than the possibly overbroad “skill issue”? Questions riffing on the above context come to mind:
- When you say “Bear”, which parts of the platform apply: the website, your account dashboard, your blog(s), others’ blogs, or something else?
- How is finding your way around Bear convoluted?
- What have you found not intuitively placed and why?
- For all applicable pages or posts you visit, where do you want to go and what interactive element would get you there?
Feel free to answer those questions and more yourself. You can conduct that exchange via posts, social media, contacting the platform owner(s) themselves, or whatever floats your boat. Your answers could encourage valid enhancements, whether built-in or third-party. Elaborating on your taste, tech savvy, and expectations could also socialize not only problem solving, but product fit.
Speaking of, those wanting platforms more in tune with their expectations shouldn’t feel handcuffed. As explained in monthly blogging challenges, enough frustration for whatever reason can encourage you to try others:
If the Bear Blog platform that my blog uses doesn’t satisfy you, check out Manu’s List of Blog Platforms, Greg’s Best Free Blogging Platforms, or similar lists.
Marginal Seat might even adopt a new platform after having gone through the above pointers. Whether they end up sticking around or not, I think they deserve a creative space for them that they don’t find frustrating. I think you deserve that too. A space that you can find your way around, with intuitively placed things, and elements pointing you to where they want to go. If you haven’t yet found one, how can you make it a reality?
