i really like the dialogue in wes anderson’s movies. at surface level it almost sounds like they’re speaking nonsense. like watching people speak words with no meaning.
made a couple of people giggle at the movies awhile ago. i did too. i like the back and forth and the use of pause... the delivery of dialogue and, almost always, with a straight face... sometimes the characters BURST in aggression SHOUTING.. then they go back into speaking calmly.. it’s the comedic aspect. the absurdity. i don’t know the different types of comedy, but it is what i’m guessing what you call dry humour.

i also noticed the consistency in wes anderson’s films. the quirks. scenes that makes his movies his.. here’s some of them:
- characters murmuring or speaking simultaneously
- the sudden OUTBURST of characters
- out-of-frame characters while speaking
- newspaper articles
- distant drums of course, the obvious symmetry, colour-grading, camera movements. these are already known that’s his. what i’m trying to see more of is in the plot, script, dialogue, rather than the visuals (which are always, always stunning, also noticed he uses certain font/s)
i could write a whole blog about wes anderson as he is one of my favourite directors (alongside hirokazu koreeda - happy birthday)
